Adam Sandler says he’d still be married to wife Jackie even if he weren’t an actor

Adam Sandler says his marriage to wife Jackie Sandler would have endured even if he never became a movie star, emphasising that their bond is rooted in love and mutual support rather than fame or career success.

The 58-year-old actor and comedian reflected on his 31-year marriage during an interview about his upcoming movie Road to Sundance. He credited Jackie, whom he met as a teenager, with being a constant source of support throughout his rise in Hollywood and beyond.

“My life is exactly how it is because of her,” Sandler said, explaining that their relationship was strong long before he achieved fame. “I would have married her whether I was in this business or not,” he added, underscoring that his commitment to her is not tied to his career achievements.

Adam and Jackie met in 1990 at the University of New York when Sandler was a freshman and she was a sophomore. The pair began dating soon after and married in 2003. They have two daughters together: Sadie and Sunny.

Sandler praised Jackie’s role in both his personal life and professional endeavors, noting that she has often been by his side through all stages of his career. Their long-lasting partnership, spanning more than three decades, stands out in an industry where relationships often face intense public scrutiny.

In addition to his comments about his marriage, Sandler also opened up about balancing family life with his work, saying he tries to prioritise quality time with his wife and children whenever his schedule allows. He described their family dynamic as one built on laughter, resilience and mutual respect, traits that have helped them navigate both career highs and everyday life.

Sandler’s remarks come as he promotes Road to Sundance, a film that has personal significance to him and further highlights his continued creative evolution. But even amid new projects and busy promotional duties, he said his marriage remains a cornerstone of his life.

“I’m grateful for every day with her,” he said, noting that enduring love and friendship have helped sustain their relationship through decades of change.
