A pre-game parachute demonstration at the Armed Forces Bowl took a dramatic turn when one of the parachutists appeared to become caught on a wire while descending into the stadium, though the incident ended without serious injuries.

Spectators attending the college football game between Rice University and Texas State University watched as members of the All Veteran Group (AVG), a parachute team made up of current and former U.S. military members, jumped into the stadium as part of the pre-game ceremony.

During the descent, one parachutist appeared to get snagged near the end zone and briefly hung in the air before falling to the ground near the seating area

Video of the moment circulated online, showing the parachutist landing hard but quickly standing up and walking away on his own. Officials later confirmed that no one on the field or in the stands was injured during the incident.

Details about the parachutist involved were not immediately released. The jump was part of a five-person performance, during which one parachutist landed outside the stadium while the remaining participants landed safely.

Mike Elliott, president of the All Veteran Group, later addressed the incident, explaining that windy conditions contributed to the rough landing. He said the parachutist “did the best that he could” and emphasized that the jumper did not land in the crowd. Elliott added that the team was “100% no injuries” and expressed appreciation for being able to participate in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Despite the brief scare, the game proceeded as scheduled without delay.
