Johnny Depp makes Hollywood comeback, unveils first look of new movie

Actor Johnny Depp has announced his return to Hollywood following his widely publicised legal battle with former spouse Amber Heard.
At CinemaCon, Depp unveiled his role in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, where he is set to portray the iconic character of Scrooge — a role the actor said he had long aspired to play.
A teaser screened at the event offered a glimpse of Depp’s performance, reinforcing his reputation for portraying unconventional and eccentric characters. The film also features a notable cast including Ian McKellen, Daisy Ridley and Rupert Grint.
In addition, Depp has secured another major role in Day Drinker, signalling a revival in his acting career.
Once among Hollywood’s most bankable stars and the face of major franchises such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Depp’s career faced setbacks amid allegations and reports of on-set misconduct. His legal dispute with Ms Heard drew significant global attention, leading several brands and studios to distance themselves from the actor.
However, following the outcome of the trial, industry observers note a gradual return to high-profile projects. Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol is scheduled for release in cinemas on Nov 13, 2026, marking a key moment in Depp’s comeback.
