Simon Doull Warns IPL Money Threatens Cricket Morals

Renowned commentator Simon Doull has raised serious concerns over the increasing influence of money in cricket, warning that financial incentives should never compromise the game’s integrity.

Doull said that while the Pakistan Super League (PSL) features impressive talent and competitiveness, the growing financial power of the IPL is creating ethical dilemmas for professional players.

He added that commitments to leagues must be respected, and professionalism in cricket should be built on integrity, fair competition, and respect for agreements rather than monetary pressure.

The former Kiwi pacer said that maintaining the moral is essential because without standards and ethics, the credibility and overall structure of the sport would be seriously undermined.

PSL Faces Player Exodus to IPL

The Pakistan Super League 2026 has been affected by several players leaving to join IPL teams, forcing franchises to reshuffle their squads ahead of the opening matches this season.

Overseas players, including Dasun Shanaka and Blessing Muzarabani, have withdrawn from their PSL contracts to join IPL teams, raising concerns about the enforcement of contractual commitments.

Franchises have had to make last-minute adjustments due to withdrawals, injuries, and late inclusions of domestic performers, increasing logistical and financial pressure on the teams.
