Luka Dončić has confirmed the end of his engagement to long-time partner Anamaria Goltes while addressing an ongoing custody dispute involving their two daughters.

In a statement provided to ESPN, the Los Angeles Lakers guard said the decision to end the engagement came amid difficulties over arrangements for their children, Gabriela and Olivia. The couple, who began dating in 2016 and became engaged in 2023, welcomed their first daughter in November 2023 and their second child in December 2025.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement,” Dončić said. “Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

Reports indicate Goltes recently filed for child support and legal fees in California. Sources close to Dončić told ESPN that he had “no idea” about the filing before it became public.

According to reports, Goltes moved back to Slovenia with their eldest daughter in May 2025. Their second daughter, Olivia, was born in December the same year while Dončić was in the middle of his first season with the Lakers.

Tensions reportedly escalated around the time of Olivia’s birth when Dončić travelled to witness the delivery.

Amid the personal developments, Dončić has also denied rumours linking him romantically with actress Madelyn Cline. Speculation began after fans noticed the two had recently followed each other on Instagram.

Sources close to the basketball player told TMZ there is “absolutely nothing” between the pair and said the two have never met in person.

Despite the off-court situation, Dončić has continued performing strongly for the Lakers. Shortly after publicly confirming the split, he scored 31 points in a game against Minnesota, maintaining his form during a challenging period away from the court.
