Rosé becomes first K-pop artist to win Brit Award at 2026 ceremony

The BLACKPINK member took home the International Song of the Year prize for ‘APT.’ at the 46th Brit Awards

Rosé has become the first K-pop artist to win a Brit Award, securing International Song of the Year at the 46th Brit Awards in Manchester.

The BLACKPINK member received the prize on Saturday for “APT.”, her collaboration with American pop star Bruno Mars. The ceremony took place at the Co-op Live Arena, marking a milestone moment for the global expansion of K-pop within the British music industry.

“Give a shout out to BLACKPINK. Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa, I love you guys so much. Thank you for always inspiring me,” Rosé said on stage after accepting the award.

“Bruno, I’m receiving this award on behalf of the both of us. Thank you so much for everything for being my biggest mentor and best friend,” she added, also thanking Teddy, founder and chief producer of her agency, The Black Label.

Released in October 2024 as a pre-release single from her debut studio album rosie, “APT.” achieved significant international success.

The track blends bright pop harmonies with a refrain inspired by the Korean “apartment game”. It remained on the Billboard Hot 100 for 45 weeks, the longest run for a K-pop track, peaking at number three. In the United Kingdom, it reached number two on the Official Singles Chart Top 100 and stayed on the chart for more than a year.

The song won two trophies at the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2025, including Song of the Year, and received multiple Grammy Award nominations.

No K-pop act had previously claimed a Brit Award despite earlier nominations for BTS, BLACKPINK and DJ Peggy Gou. Rosé’s win signals a new chapter for Korean artists in major Western music awards.
