Emily in Paris has not yet been renewed for a sixth season, but comments from the show’s creative team suggest plans are being considered following the Season 5 finale.

The Netflix series continues to follow Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, after her move from the United States to France for work and her complicated romantic life.

Season 5 saw Emily spending time in Rome with Marcello, portrayed by Eugenio Franceschini. Although the season ended with Emily single, the final moments hinted that her connection with Gabriel, played by Lucas Bravo, may not be over. Gabriel was largely absent from Season 5, prompting speculation about his future on the show.

Director and executive producer Andrew Fleming addressed those concerns in December 2025, saying, “Gabriel is important. He’s part of the DNA of the show. When he and Emily are in a scene together, something undefinable happens. They have this chemistry. They do. There’s just something about the two of them that’s very watchable.”

Fleming also clarified that Bravo’s reduced presence was due to scheduling conflicts rather than a creative decision. “At no point was Lucas ever leaving the show permanently. … He did have a commitment. He had a movie that he was doing. So we worked around that,” he said.

Creator Darren Star echoed that sentiment, explaining that Season 5 was not intended to centre on Emily and Gabriel. “Because that’s not where Emily’s story was, or where we ever planned it to be in season 5,” he said, adding that Gabriel’s limited role still kept him within the show’s world.

The season ended with Gabriel writing Emily a postcard from Greece, inviting her to visit, leaving their relationship unresolved. Fleming hinted that future episodes could expand beyond Paris, saying, “Assuming we’re picked up, I want to go back to Paris. But I want to go other places too.”

While Netflix has yet to announce a renewal, the cast and producers have made clear that Emily’s story, and her connection to Gabriel, remains unfinished.
