Victoria’s Secret faces backlash for snubbing model Romee Strijd ahead of 2026 Fashion Show

The model shared her disappointment in a TikTok video after learning she would not feature in the event

Fans have criticised Victoria’s Secret after Dutch model Romee Strijd revealed she would not be walking in the brand’s 2026 Fashion Show, despite appearing in five consecutive shows previously.

The 31-year-old model shared her disappointment in a TikTok video on Monday, October 12, after learning she would not feature in the event, scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 18.

“I just hung up the phone. It’s a no, and it’s fine because rejection is part of modeling, and that’s totally fine,” Strijd said.

In a follow-up video, she explained that her frustration stemmed less from the rejection itself than from the way the decision had been communicated.

She said she “doesn’t feel supported by her agency”, IMG Models, and wanted greater clarity about the casting process.

“I don’t feel like I have the straight story. Just be honest, just tell me, and I can go on with my life and let it go, because it’s fine,” she added.

Strijd said the uncertainty had caused significant stress, particularly as she had repeatedly requested updates to help organise plans for her family.

She shares two daughters, Mint, 5, and June, 3, with husband Laurens van Leeuwen.

Strijd’s comments prompted an outpouring of support, with fans questioning the casting decisions and calling for established Victoria’s Secret models to return.

“The show is a joke if they don’t even hire the OGs,” one commenter wrote.

Another fan said, “You ARE the VS angel 🪽”.

Although Strijd wished this year’s production well, she suggested the experience had made her hesitant about pursuing future shows.

Other established models, including Frida Aesen and Lais Ribeiro, were also reportedly left out of the 2026 lineup.
