Troye Sivan is opening up about the personal experiences behind his fourth studio album, She’s the Best, describing the project as his most experimental work yet as he explores loneliness, longing and the relationships that have kept him grounded.

In an interview with Vogue, the Australian singer discussed how the album reflects the contrast between the excitement of his career and the solitude he has experienced away from the spotlight. The record follows his 2023 album, Something to Give Each Other, which featured hits including Rush and One of Your Girls.

Sivan explained that his latest project brings together different musical styles, including dance, trip-hop, shoegaze and orchestral pop. Rather than attempting to recreate the sound of his previous record, he wanted the new album to reflect the more complicated emotions he has experienced in recent years.

The singer also spoke about the women who have supported him throughout his life, explaining that their influence became a central theme of the project. The title track celebrates the women and feminine-presenting people who have helped him navigate personal challenges, including trans women, drag queens and the feminine side of his own identity.

The album features appearances from Nicole Kidman and Lily-Rose Depp, with Sivan describing the project as a deeply personal reflection of his life. Kidman appears in the music video for the title track, while Depp contributes to the album’s closing track, which expresses hope for future love.

Sivan also explored the tension between his life as a performer and the loneliness that can follow the excitement of being on stage. Following the success of his 2024 SWEAT tour with Charli XCX, the singer found himself reflecting on how fame can make it more difficult to maintain privacy and build romantic relationships.
