Lahore  –  UNICEF Pakistan and Falcon Triathlon Club (FTC) have agreed to collaborate to promote child rights through the Lahore Marathon, a flagship project of Falcon Triathlon Club. The intention is to bring a focus on children’s rights and well-being to one of Pakistan’s emerging mass participation sporting events. The Lahore Marathon has grown steadily since its inception, evolving into a major community sporting platform in Lahore and attracting increasing participation from runners, families, athletes and fitness enthusiasts. The race is an AIMS certified marathon, reflecting its commitment to established international standards and providing runners with a credible and professionally organised racing experience. With each edition, the event continues to expand its reach and strengthen its position as the premier event in Pakistan’s endurance sports calendar. Beyond the race itself, Lahore Marathon seeks to use the power of sport to bring communities together and create a platform for positive social impact. Its growing reach provides an opportunity to connect thousands of participants and spectators with causes that matter to society. Through collaboration, UNICEF and FTC will work together to promote children’s rights around the Lahore Marathon and encourage greater awareness and action to advance children’s rights to health, education, protection, participation and well-being. The collaboration was formalised through a signing ceremony attended by representatives of UNICEF and Falcon Triathlon Club and stakeholders. Speaking on the occasion, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan, Pernille Ironside said: “Child rights advocacy and meaningful child participation are at the heart of UNICEF’s mandate. The collaboration with Falcon Triathlon Club on the Lahore Marathon offers a powerful platform that places children at the centre of public conversation. When we come together, every step taken on the road is a step towards a Lahore where every child can be seen, heard and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.” Usman Bashir, the race director of Lahore Marathon said: “Lahore Marathon has always been about more than running. As the event continues to grow, we want its impact to grow with it. Partnering with UNICEF gives us an opportunity to use the reach of sport to put children and their rights at the heart of a platform that brings together thousands of people. We are proud to have UNICEF join us on this journey.” The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to harnessing the power of sport and community engagement to create greater awareness around issues affecting children and encourage collective action for a safer, healthier and more inclusive future for every child.
