LAHORE  –  The 29th death anniversary of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, who introduced Qawwali to the Western world, was  observed on Sunday. With his unique voice and style, he took Qawwali out of gatherings and monasteries and brought it to the world stage. Immersed in love and pain, his voice also had a touch of spirituality. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali also achieved a prominent position in Hamd and Naat along with Qawwali, while also demonstrating his talents in film music. The songs he sang for Pakistani and Indian films are still listened to with enthusiasm today. Nusrat Fateh opened his eyes in a musical family in Faisalabad and received music training from childhood. Due to his unique voice and style of speech, he made a separate identity in the world of music at an early age. Khan had also performed his art in Pakistan, India, Europe and America, where a large number of fans attended his shows. People associated with music still learn from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s art, tones and singing style, while his voice holds a unique place in the world of music along with Qawwali. He passed away in London on August 16, 1997. With his passing, the world of music lost a great voice, but his art still lives on among fans.
