Tyler Duckworth cause of death remains unknown as police await autopsy results

Duckworth, the two-time ‘The Challenge’ champion, died aged 44, his mother Joni confirmed on Facebook

Tyler Duckworth, the two-time The Challenge champion, has died at 44, with authorities yet to determine his cause of death, according to police and information provided by his mother, Joni.

Joni confirmed her son’s death on Facebook on Thursday, August 13, saying he had died earlier in the week.

Police in Grand Forks are investigating, with an autopsy and toxicology testing expected to establish what happened.

Officers were called to Duckworth’s residence at about 11:45am on Tuesday, August 11, after a neighbour reported water coming through the ceiling from his apartment.

Authorities found Duckworth deceased in his bathroom.

Police said there were no apparent signs of foul play or evidence indicating a suspicious death.

Authorities also said Duckworth had been seen the previous day, although it was not immediately clear how long he had been deceased.

The toxicology results could take between 10 and 12 weeks, meaning his cause of death may remain undetermined for some time.

Duckworth had attended a “Challenge Mania” event in Minneapolis on July 31, less than two weeks before his death.

He shared photographs with fellow contestants, including Rachel Robinson, Brad Fiorenza, Tina Barta and Mark Long.

Scott Yager and Derrick Kosinski paid tribute to Duckworth following his death, remembering his energy and positive presence.

Duckworth first appeared on The Real World: Key West in 2006 and later competed on six seasons of The Challenge. He won Cutthroat and Rivals before returning for All Stars 2 and All Stars 3.
