A viral Google search claiming Babytron had died, sparked confusion and concern across social media, prompting the rapper to speak out and reassure fans that he is alive.

Screenshots circulating online reportedly appeared to show Google listing the 26-year-old rapper as having died on June 28 in Atlanta. The claim spread rapidly, despite there being no credible reports confirming his death.

Babytron, whose real name is James Johnson, quickly addressed the rumour through his Instagram Story by sharing the same screenshot and responding directly to fans.

“??????? I’m alive yall” he wrote.

The rapper also started an Instagram livestream to further reassure followers that the reports were false. It remains unclear whether the screenshot was digitally altered or resulted from a temporary error in Google’s search results.

The incident is the latest in a growing number of online death hoaxes targeting musicians, celebrities and internet personalities, with false claims often spreading rapidly across social media before being corrected.

Johnson, from Ypsilanti, Michigan, began releasing music in 2018 after launching a YouTube channel the previous year. He first gained recognition as a member of the underground rap group ShittyBoyz before building a successful solo career.

Known for incorporating references to popular culture, video games and television into his music, Babytron has released several successful projects, including BIN Reaper, BIN Reaper 2, MegaTron and MegaTron 2. His latest album, Out On Bond Again, was released in February 2026.

The rapper also featured alongside Eminem and Big Sean on the 2024 single “Tobey” and currently attracts more than two million monthly listeners on Spotify.
