Olivia Rodrigo’s newly announced all-female music festival has become the centre of online discussion after a comment from Cigarettes After Sex drummer Jacob Tomsky prompted criticism from some of the singer’s fans.

Rodrigo, 23, revealed plans this week for Daisy Chain Fields, a music festival scheduled for August featuring performers including Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan and Doechii. Proceeds from the event will support charities focused on women and girls.

The discussion emerged after Rodrigo appeared on Good Morning America to promote the festival in an interview with journalist Diane Sawyer.

Under a TikTok video of the interview, Tomsky reportedly posted a comment that was later deleted, writing, “We won’t be there lol tf.”

When another user asked him to explain the remark, Tomsky responded, “I mean, it feels like some forced promo for a festival, right? I’m just saying our band won’t be performing there.”

Cigarettes After Sex was not mentioned during the interview, and the reason for his comment remains unclear.

Rodrigo’s supporters quickly reacted across social media platforms. One user wrote, “Men being offended by something that doesn’t involve them is straight up comedy fr,” while another added: “he’s weird.”

Others questioned the criticism, with one commenter writing, “‘Forced ad’ and you’re commenting on a video you could’ve skipped, on a social media account you control, on a phone YOU pay for. so that was a choice to watch.”

Rodrigo said the festival had been a long-term ambition. “Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. I’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!” she wrote.

The Grammy-winning artist has said the event was inspired by Lilith Fair, the influential festival co-founded by Sarah McLachlan, who is expected to make a guest appearance.
