Measles outbreak claims 71 lives in Pakistan as cases surge nationwide

At least 71 deaths linked to Measles have been reported across Pakistan this year, with more than 16,000 suspected cases raising alarm among health authorities.
According to the Ministry of National Health Services Pakistan, nearly 4,000 cases have been laboratory confirmed so far, indicating a growing public health concern.
Sindh has been the worst-affected region, recording 40 deaths. The province has reported over 4,000 suspected cases, with more than 1,100 confirmed through lab testing.
Health experts have warned that stronger vaccination drives and timely medical care are essential to control the spread of the disease, particularly among children who are most at risk.
Authorities say the situation is being closely monitored and have urged parents to ensure routine immunisation to help prevent further fatalities and contain the outbreak.
