April snowfall blankets Kaghan, Naran, attracts tourists
MANSEHRA – After three consecutive days of persistent rainfall, the weather in Mansehra city and its adjoining plains began to clear on Sunday. However, in a surprising turn of season, the upper reaches of the district received significant snowfall, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and transforming the landscape of popular hill stations. In the plains, residents witnessed a playful contest between the sun and clouds, with intermittent sunshine breaking through the overcast sky. In contrast, the higher altitudes remained engulfed in dense clouds, with cold winds sweeping through the valleys. According to reports from the Kaghan Valley, the unseasonal April snowfall has led to a considerable drop in temperature, making the environment chilly and wintry. Despite the cold, the flow of tourists to the scenic destinations of Shogran, Kaghan, and Naran has continued unabated, with visitors eager to enjoy the rare spring snowfall. Snow depths have been recorded at multiple locations. Siripaya has received six inches of snow, while Naran Bazaar has seen more than 10 inches of accumulated snow, creating a white blanket over the area. In light of the sudden weather change, the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) has taken proactive measures to ensure tourist safety.
The authority has deployed staff at sensitive and vulnerable points across the valley to assist and guide travelers. Tourists have been advised to exercise caution and obtain detailed information about the weather conditions before planning any trip to the upper regions. Officials have emphasized that safety should remain the top priority while traveling in these areas during unpredictable.
