Pakistan’s First National Forensics Agency Becomes Fully Functional


Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the state-of-the-art National Forensics Agency in Islamabad today. The forensics facility is now fully functional. Officials completed this project in record time. During his visit, Naqvi praised the entire team for their vital role. He declared the establishment of the agency a strict need of the hour.

National Forensics Agency: Cutting-Edge Facilities

The Interior Minister inspected several advanced departments. He examined the Research and Innovation Laboratory, the Digital Forensic Laboratory, and the Fintech Lab. Furthermore, he visited the Narcotics Laboratory, Questionable Laboratory, and rooms dedicated to firearms, DNA, serology, and expo savers. Additionally, Naqvi observed the Mock Crime Unit. There, he inquired about the training process for assistant sub-inspectors.

Director-General National Forensics Agency Hasnat Rasool briefed the minister on current operations. He stated that the first phase of the National Forensic Laboratory is entirely complete. Consequently, the agency now offers specialized tech services. These include Deep Fake Forensics, Computer and Mobile Forensics, Audio Video networks, and Drone Forensics. Moreover, the DG reported that the agency has already compiled reports for 100 digital forensic cases within just one year. Work on phase two will begin soon.

Nationwide Expansion & Support

The National Forensics Laboratory will extend its support to all law-enforcement agencies across Pakistan’s provinces. To achieve this, the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed the establishment of zonal offices. These new offices will operate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit, and Baltistan. Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the laboratory will consistently provide services that meet international standards.

Therefore, he directed officials to actively advertise all available facilities and services. This outreach ensures that other institutions can fully benefit from the agency. Several high-ranking officials also attended today’s occasion. These leaders included the Director-General of the Anti-Narcotics Force, the Director-General of the Federal Investigation Agency, and the Inspector-General of Police, Islamabad.
