Taylor Swift releases ‘Elizabeth Taylor’ video exclusively on Spotify and Apple Music

Taylor Swift has released a new music video for her track “Elizabeth Taylor”, featuring archival footage of the late Hollywood actor rather than a traditional on-screen performance.

The video compiles scenes from several of Elizabeth Taylor’s films alongside newsreel clips, offering a visual tribute to one of the most recognised figures of 20th-century cinema.

Featured films include “Cleopatra”, “Father of the Bride”, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, “A Place in the Sun”, “Giant”, “Suddenly, Last Summer”, “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, “Julia Misbehaves” and “Boom!”.

Unlike Swift’s recent high-concept productions, including the video for “Opalite”, the singer does not appear in this release. The video is currently available on Apple Music and Spotify’s premium tier, following a similar release strategy used for “Opalite”, with a wider rollout expected a few days later.

The track appears on Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl released in October. Swift previously confirmed that she sought approval from Taylor’s estate before releasing the song.

The song includes references to Taylor’s life, including her distinctive violet eyes, her White Diamonds fragrance line, and locations associated with her such as Portofino and Paris.

Members of Taylor’s estate have expressed support for the project, describing the song as a tribute to her legacy.
