BTS has released its long-awaited album Arirang as Seoul prepares for a large-scale comeback concert, despite leader RM sustaining an ankle injury during rehearsals.

On March 20, the globally recognised K-pop group unveiled the album, first announced on January 4, marking its first full-length release since Be in 2020.

The 14-track project is led by the single “SWIM” and is now available on major streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. The album features contributions from prominent producers such as Diplo, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Mike WiLL Made-It and Ryan Tedder.

Attention now turns to March 21, when BTS will stage the “BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang” concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. Authorities are preparing for significant crowds, with Yonhap reporting that up to 260,000 attendees are expected. In response, officials plan to deploy 15,000 personnel, including 6,700 police officers, alongside extensive safety arrangements.

Measures include triple-layer barricades, tactical teams to address potential drone threats and traffic restrictions across the area. Subway services will also be adjusted, with locker access restricted at 17 stations and trains running non-stop through key stations including Gwanghwamun, Seoul City Hall and Gyeongbokgung.

Meanwhile, BigHit Music confirmed that RM suffered an ankle injury on March 19 during rehearsals. The agency stated he must wear a cast and limit movement for at least two weeks. However, RM will still take to the stage, performing with reduced choreography to avoid further strain.

The concert will be streamed on Netflix across all subscription plans, followed by a documentary release scheduled for March 27.
