Pakistan Bangladesh ODI Tour Faces Uncertainty

The upcoming ODI series between Pakistan and Bangladesh is facing uncertainty due to ongoing regional tensions, casting doubt over whether the tour will proceed as originally scheduled.

Pakistan is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on March 9, with all three ODIs set to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on March 11, 13 and 15 respectively.

However, sources indicated that the white-ball series will only take place if the prevailing situation does not escalate travel risks or create security concerns for the touring side.

At the same time, discussions over the squad composition are expected to begin this week as Pakistan shift their preparations towards the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.

The 50-over World Cup 2027 will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia as Pakistan begin planning for the global event.

According to insiders, the selection committee is expected to introduce significant changes, with young players likely to replace underperforming senior members including Babar Azam, Saim Ayub and Mohammad Nawaz.

There is no immediate T20I assignment for Pakistan, and no rapid decisions are anticipated regarding that format, although five to six players could be phased out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 squad.

Pakistan last played one-day internationals in November when they hosted Sri Lanka for a three-match series and secured a clean sweep on home soil.

That series marked the second ODI assignment for captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, whose first series in charge was a three-match home contest against South Africa, which Pakistan won by two matches to one.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Men in Green ended their campaign in the ongoing marquee event at the Super Eight stage after finishing third, behind England and New Zealand.

Date  Event Venue
