A labourer from South Punjab has gained widespread attention after social media users highlighted his strong resemblance to Babar Azam, making him popular overnight.

Muhammad Imran became widely known when his friends uploaded a video of him, which quickly circulated online and drew comparisons with the former captain.

Imran had travelled from his village to Lahore for daily wage work, unaware that his appearance would unexpectedly bring him recognition and public attention.

Speaking to Express News, Imran said villagers often told him he resembled the experienced batter, though he never believed their remarks until recently.

He added that he felt saddened during the Sri Lanka match when Babar Azam was dropped, saying his identity has now become closely associated with the cricketer.

It is pertinent to mention that Babar Azam is under severe scrutiny for his poor performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.

The right-handed batter has failed to show his usual form to satisfy the management, prompting the selectors to drop him for the last Super Eight group-stage match against Sri Lanka.
