4 Govt Employees Jailed for Allegedly Leaking Sensitive Information to Russia

Judge Tahir Abbas Supra of the Special Court under the Official Secrets Act on Saturday convicted four government employees and acquitted two in a case involving the alleged leak of sensitive information, reportedly linked to Russia.

Announcing the verdict in the case registered under the Official Secrets Act, the court sentenced Safdarur Rehman to 10 years in prison, while Tafzeelur Rehman, Muhammad Waqar, and Muhammad Tahir were each awarded five-year prison terms.

However, the court acquitted Mujtaba and Muhammad Ashfaq due to lack of evidence, ruling that the charges against them could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt.

Sources close to the matter reported that the convicted employees were allegedly involved in leaking sensitive information to Russia. The exact nature and classification of the information have not been disclosed publicly.
